By attending The Quality Improvement Center on Helplines and Hotlines’ events, participants agree to our Event Code of Conduct and relevant event policies and disclaimers.

I. Event Code of Conduct

The Quality Improvement Center on Helplines and Hotlines’ (“the Center”) Event Code of Conduct applies to all meetings and events, whether held in person at public or private facilities or virtually. The Center is committed to providing a respectful, professional, and productive environment for all participants. All participants are expected to comply with this Code and contribute to an orderly and constructive event experience. Definitions include the following.

  • Harassment: Unwelcome behavior that intimidates, threatens, disrupts, or interferes with another person’s participation in the event.
  • Sexual harassment: Unwelcome sexual advances; requests for sexual favors; or other unwelcome verbal, nonverbal, or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
  • Participant(s): Individuals involved in the event, including attendees, speakers, volunteers, guests, exhibitors/vendors, service providers, staff, and others.

Expected Behavior

  • Treat all participants with respect and consideration, valuing a range of views and opinions.
  • Be considerate and collegial.
  • Communicate with respect for others.
  • Critique ideas rather than individuals.
  • Be mindful of your surroundings, other event participants, and venue/contracted support staff.
  • Alert on-premises security personnel and Center staff (any staff member from the Children’s Trust Fund Alliance, Evident Change, or Social Current) if you notice a dangerous situation or someone in distress.
  • Respect the rules and policies of all venues associated with the event.

Unacceptable Behavior

  • Unwelcome behavior or discriminatory jokes that intimidate, threaten, disrupt, or interfere with another person’s participation in the event.
  • Harassment in any form, including bullying, threatening, stalking, intimidation, insinuations, or disparaging comments that are hurtful or interfere with any other participant’s experience.
  • Sexual harassment, including but not limited to unwanted or inappropriate conduct, unwanted sexual attention, comments, jokes, or advances.
  • Violence, threats of violence, or violent language directed against another person.
  • For the safety and comfort of all participants, weapons of any kind (including firearms and knives) are not permitted at Center events except for on-duty law enforcement.
  • Any photography or recording, including within the event environment, for use on social media without the prior permission of the individuals or owners of the content therein.
  • Any inappropriate photography or recording. Inappropriate photography and recording include taking, sharing, or using photos, videos, or audio recordings in a way that violates an individual’s privacy; disregards their expressed wishes; disrupts the event; or is intended to harass, embarrass, intimidate, or exploit another participant.
  • Failure to obey any rules or regulations of the event venue, including any destruction or vandalizing of personal or event property or materials.
  • Boisterous, lewd, or offensive behavior or language that disrupts the event, a session, or other event segment in any way.
  • Drinking in an irresponsible manner.
  • Falsely reporting violations of this Code and/or retaliating against another participant for reporting a violation of this Code.

The Center reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to determine what constitutes unacceptable behavior and what actions it will take to address incidents that occur.

Consequences for Unacceptable Behavior

Participants who are asked to stop their behavior will be expected to comply immediately. If a participant continues to violate this Code, the Center may take whatever actions it deems appropriate, including removal from event, disqualification from attending future events, notification of participant’s employer, or notification of on-premises security or local law enforcement as necessary.

Reporting Unacceptable Behavior

If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify Center staff (any staff member from the Children’s Trust Fund Alliance, Evident Change, or Social Current) as soon as possible. All reported concerns will be treated seriously and addressed. All participants are expected to cooperate fully and honestly with any effort by the Center to address violations.
